Christine Provard-Artist

Christine is a well-known seascape artist residing in New Bern, North Carolina.  Her coastal landscapes and depictions of local wildlife reflect her love for her adopted coastal home of eastern North Carolina.  

Originally from Ohio, Christine retired from a career in nursing in 2017 and relocated to New Bern with her husband Rick in 2018. Together they spend time exploring the Eastern coastline, where she finds inspiration for her art at the “water’s edge”.

“I’ve always been happiest at the water’s edge.  I love painting there as I find my peace and joy in the connection with the water and shore. 

I have a quote that says, ‘where the sea meets soul’, and that sums up the heart of my art, too.”   

A member of the North Carolina Watercolor Society, and the North Carolina and Coastal Carolina Plein Air groups, she has exhibited her work throughout North Carolina and Ohio.  In addition to watercolor, she enjoys exploring creativity in oils and mixed media. 

Christine’s work is available at the Bank of the Arts and Community Artist Gallery in New Bern both on Middle Street. 

She also has her paintings at the Broad Strokes Gallery in Oriental along with   work at the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center in Morehead City and on Harkers Island. 

 One more place she has work  is  at the Community Council for the Arts in Kinston, NC.

Christine is a popular local watercolor instructor and is available for commissions.

The 2026 Bank of the Artis National Show is coming  August through September.  I am thrilled my painting "Daur Canopy" was one chosen to be in this show.  Over 420 paintings we submitted and 106 were invited.  Do stop in at the Art Walks to see the show.

BIG NEWS!!!

I am honored that the main cover painting above-"BLUE PLATE SPECIAL" was just juried into the Watercolor Society of North Carolina for this year's annual Juried Show to be held in Whitsett NC.  The show itself will be up from Oct. 8-November 16th at the Griffith Museum at Red Oak Brewery.  Please stop if you are able to see this year's show.

I am also excited to say I have now been juried into 3 of the  Watercolor Society of North Carolina"s shows and have earned my signature status.  Once I am given this award at the October show, I will be able to add the initials-WSNC after my name.  I am very honored and excited.  Thank you to this year's judge-Michael Solovyev.  He is a well known watercolorist from Canada.

Shipping costs will  be included  at time of the sale.

My prints are 5x7" matted to fit a standard 8" x 10" frame.   Prints are $24 for this size.  (2 for $35)

The 8x10" are matted to 11x14" and are $35 each. (2 for $60)

My 10"x10" square prints are $24.00 each, (2 for $40.00)

My cards are 5" x 7" ($7.00 each) 

The packs of 4" x 6" cards (4 pack of similar picture) for $12.00

Small packs of 5 (gift card size of different cards) are sold in an assorted pack) and are $10.00 each.
